By Garrett County Health Department’s Environmental Health Services Unit
Effective July 1, 2022, Property Transfer Inspectors must be licensed by the Maryland Department of the Environment. This requirement can be found in the Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR) 26.04.12. 03 or on the Maryland Department of the Environment website. The certification previously required for Property Transfer Inspectors was changed to this new license. Additionally, some on-site disposal system (OSDS) inspection requirements were added.
To become a licensed Property Transfer Inspector, the individual must complete an MDE approved training course. MOWPA is offering an opportunity for a course in April of 2024. Registration for this course can be found here. (https://mowpa.org/training/course-registrations/registration-inspection/)
