Go! Garrett County

By Diane Lee, Public Information Officer, Garrett County Health Department

After several weeks for minimal state and local COVID-19 data due to a network security incident at Maryland Department of Health, the data is finally back online. Garrett County was unable to report the number of COVID cases, percentage positivity, case rates, and deaths since December 4th due to the state databases being compromised.

“We were aware that there had been additional deaths since the state security incident, but we were unable to report the deaths because of our inability to complete the confirmation process,” said Garrett County Health Officer Bob Stephens. “Sadly, 10 additional deaths due to COVID and its complications have been confirmed for Garrett County since December 4th, bringing the county total to 96 lives lost since the beginning of the pandemic.”

Additional Information for Garrett County:
• Positivity Rate: 8.7%
• Case Rate: 45.2%
• Total Cases: 4,223

Vaccination is the best way to prevent hospitalizations and deaths. The current vaccination rates for Garrett County are:

All clinics are from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome for 1st doses only. Persons needing booster doses are encouraged to pre-register at garretthealth.org.
