Dental

  • The Dental Clinic is now open. Patients must call ahead and schedule an appointment to be seen at this time.
  • Current hours of operation are Monday through Thursday from 8am-5pm.
  • We are asking patients not to come in if they have a cough, fever or any flu symptoms.
  • To limit the health risk to our patients and staff we ask that you come to your appointment by yourself. If you need a ride we ask that they remain in their vehicle. Minor’s can be accompanied by 1 adult.

Early Care Programs (+ Health Families)

  • Early Care Programs:  The office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Healthy Families and Early Head Start Home-Based Home Visiting staff are conducting both virtual and in-person home visits at the choice of families.  We continue to complete outreach and new client enrollment.
  • Breastfeeding and Childbirth Classes:  This is how it works . . .The expectant parent(s) sign up for the class. If we are not back to business as usual by the time the class date comes up: 1. Our Nurse Educator reaches out, 2. Provides support, 3. Gives them a code to access the class book to get to the full book that correlates with the in-class PowerPoint instruction, additional videos, handouts, etc. 4. Mails the hardcopy of the book, and 5. Provides contact information for continued support. *One-on-one support is also being offered for breastfeeding / lactation support / childbirth needs via telework staff.
  • Maryland Health Connection:  The offices at the Garrett County Health Department  are staffed daily, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in both Oakland and Grantsville to assist clients over the phone with insurance needs.  Please call (301) 334-7720 for the Oakland office, or (301) 895-5699 for the Grantsville office should you need assistance.  Maryland Health Connection insurance assistance is being conducted by phone.  If you are in need of in-person assistance, please call for an appointment.  Marylanders can also visit the website at www.MarylandHealthConnection.gov, use the “Enroll MHC” mobile app, or by contacting the call center at (855) 642-8572 for further assistance.

Environmental Health Services

  • Environmental Health is keeping our physical office staffed at 70%.
  • Staff and teleworkers are monitoring email to respond to requests for information and issuing burn permits.
  • We are handling rabies/animal bite related issues, inspecting septic system installations, issuing well permits, screening nuisance complaints, conducting food service facility inspections, performing water sampling, and scheduling percolation testing.
  • Please call to schedule appointments/services as necessary.

Health Education & Outreach

  • The office is open Monday through Friday, 8 am – 5 pm.
  • Smoking cessation and diet consultation services are provided based on patient preference – by telephone, in-person, or virtually.
  • Community education services are being provided in-person.

Home Health

  • Home visits operating as normal –  but, patients can expect to see healthcare workers in gloves, masks, and gowns. This is to protect the patient and the provider, not because the provider is ill.
  • Office staff is limited at this time.

Local Management Board + Behavioral Health Authority

  • Local Management Board: Families or Agencies seeking information about what the Local Care Team may be able to assist with during the COVID-19 limited social contact span, can call the main office number at: 301-334-7440.  The Local Care Team is a Public Group on MyGarrett County.com.
  • Behavioral Health Authority: Behavioral Health Providers can call (301-334-7440) and fax (301-334-7441) Consumer Support Requests to the office.  All incoming office calls to 7440 are being redirected to mobile devices.  Our staff are working in the office and remotely.  We will not be visiting with individuals face to face for emergency hotel stays or consumer support requests.
