ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF ADDICTIONS

This position will function as an Assistant Director for Addictions Services and will coordinate, oversee and direct the behavioral health clinics and programs operated by the Garrett County Health Department. The Assistant Director will also oversee the fee for service clinics and also numerous grant programs that support mental health and substance related disorder treatment in the County; maintain partnerships with agencies and organizations involved in the treatment and recovery of persons in Garrett County with mental health, substance related and developmental disorders and, also work with community partners to develop the resources needed to address the addictions needs of the County.

Healthy Families Garrett County Family Support Worker

The main purpose of this full time contractual position is to assist the Garrett County Health Department in the mission of promoting, protecting, and improving the health of the county citizens. This position provides in-home support services through intensive home visiting to pregnant women and children up to five years of age under the Healthy Families America home visiting program(s) to improve birth outcomes, strengthen families, cultivate nurturing parent child relationships, promote child health and developmental outcomes, promote family stability, build foundations for strong family functioning, and promote positive parenting practices. Services enable individuals to maintain independence and well-being, assist in preserving the family structure, promote functional home environments, and teach clients how to access and utilize available community resources. This position, with guidance from the program supervisor, works to improve parenting skills, reduce family stress, and meet the ongoing needs of the family unit to achieve optimal functioning. The position will promote family and child health through education and referral. This position will collaborate with other health professionals and community agencies to support families and children’s optimal health, nutrition, safety, and development.

A/D Professional Counselor Provisional

This full time contractual position will be responsible for provision of individual and group counseling to substance use and co-occurring clients in Garrett County. Facilitate drug testing within the Clinic, and teach the 12-hour DUI education class. Must apply for and receive a letter of authorization to practice as a trainee from the Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists within 90 days of hire date.

DEPUTY HEALTH OFFICER, OPERATIONS

The main purpose of this position is to assist the Health Officer as the Deputy Health Officer of Operations. This position directs, manages, and supervises the operation and programmatic areas of the Health Department and supports the Health Officer with setting agency direction and implementing community health improvement. In addition, the position oversees the management of LBHA, Population Health & Informatics, MA Transportation, Centralized Billing, and Administration; provides strategic direction and supervision to the executive staff and support staff; provides leadership and direction to the overall health department; and, oversees the annual budget preparation. This position will also act on behalf of the Health Officer in their absence.
