Jeremiah Zeigler is the lead for the Information Technology team at the Garrett County Health Department.
Like many of us, Jeremiah had many different jobs during high school and college. From removing mortar from bricks, working for a sign company, working at Denny’s, and assisting with the math department while attending Garrett College, his experiences could definitely be described as diverse.
After college, Jeramiah worked for Halian and Associates Landscapes for a time, and then settled into a position at Pillar Innovations. His seven years at Pillar continued the theme of diverse experiences.
“At Pillar, I worked in the fiber department, fire suppression department, the manufacturing and refurbishing of mining safety chambers and equipment,” Jeramiah said. “I also ran low voltage electric, worked in their paint booth, surveyed properties, wired panel boxes for all sorts of projects, and programmed and manufactured intrinsically safe power supplies, which I become the manager over the last two years I worked there.”
In 2017 he was hired for an entry-level position in IT at the Garrett County Health Department.
“I’m now leading the IT team here at the Health Department and loving it,” he said. “I like the people I work with and the type of work I do, as well as the airconditioned environment I work in. I think my biggest accomplishment at my current job would be getting my CompTIA A+ and CompTIA Network+ certificates.”
For those of us who don’t know, receiving those certifications means Jeremiah has put in the time and work to learn the foundational IT skills to be able to work on a variety of devices, operating systems, and networks. That’s why he and his team can keep the office running even when things don’t always go as planned.
Jeremiah enjoys playing with his son and daughter, hanging out with his wife, and chilling on his back porch while grilling. He also likes golf, volleyball, airsoft, playing video games, the MTG card game and playing and listening to music.
“I don’t think it’s that unusual, but quite a few people have been surprised with my music selection,” Jeremiah said. “I primarily listen to nu-metal or hard rock/metal, but I will also listen to pretty much every genre except for jazz and bluegrass.”
You might be surprised to know that before he got married, Jeremiah was working on getting his pilot’s license. He advanced to the point where he could fly solo in a single prop airplane, but he never ended up taking his test.
Anyone who knows Jeremiah very well would not be surprised that his favorite quote is a Bible verse: “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” ~ Lamentations 3: 22-23
