The Kitzmiller Empowerment Group sponsored a Halloween Family Fun/Movie Night on October 22, 2021, with over 40 in attendance. The Mayor and Town Council set up the movie equipment, and the Kitzmiller Little League provided concessions for the evening. Heather Berg, Community Outreach Worker, is pictured with some of the prevention education that she provided, which included a pledge for adults to be positive role models when it comes to tobacco, information about the Health Department’s Quit Now classes, and a wellness game for youth. In addition to the prevention education, those who attended also watched the movie “Goosebumps 2” with a preliminary video about the risks of vaping. Finally, pictured above are twenty of Kitzmiller’s finest witches, goblins, cowgirls, and princesses who participated in the Halloween festivities. “I love working in Kitzmiller because all of our local organizations come together to provide meaningful family activities in our little town,” reported Heather Berg. Activities of community planning groups are supported in part by funds from the Garrett County Health Department to promote healthy living and prevent risky behaviors.
