Kitzmiller recently held a Town Hall Meeting to learn about the problems of opioid use disorder and the programs and services which are available in the county to counteract the issue. A panel of five presenters from the Garrett County Speakers Bureau covered various aspects of the crisis. Pictured above from left are Stateβs Attorney Lisa Thayer Welch; Dr. Rick Perry; Sandy Miller, Prevention Supervisor, Garrett County Health Department; Kathy Beal, Clinical Supervisor – Substance-Related Disorder Programs, Garrett County Health Department; and Jade Kenney, certified recovery coach and in recovery. The countyβs Community Resource Team was also introduced as a new resource for those seeking recovery or for their loved ones. The team is a collaborative effort between the Health Department and Emergency Services. The event was sponsored by the Kitzmiller Empowerment Group, which is supported in part by funds from the Garrett County Health Department with funding from the Maryland Department of Health and SAMHSA.
