The Garrett County Health Department received nine additional positive COVID-19 results since the last report on Monday, November 9th, bringing the current county total positives to 235.
The new positive COVID-19 cases include:
- 1 female age 0-9
- 2 females age 10-19
- 1 female in her 20s
- 2 males in their 30s
- 1 male in his 40s
- 1 male in his 50s
- 1 male in his 70s
In Garrett County, there are currently 48 isolating due to a positive COVID-19 test.
The county positivity rate is currently around 6%, and has consistently exceeded the state rate since October 18th. With Maryland’s positivity rate exceeding 5% for the first time since June and health metrics spiking across the nation, at a press conference on Tuesday Governor Larry Hogan announced a series of actions to slow the spread of COVID-19.
Some of those measures include:
Effective on Wednesday, November 11, at 5 pm:
- Indoor dining capacity reduced to 50% in both bars and restaurants.
Effective immediately:
- Public health advisory to limit social gatherings to 25 or less. This does not impact churches and houses of worship since there is an existing order that among other things requires face coverings while indoor and social distancing.
- Expanded out-of-state travel advisory, strongly advising against travel to any state with a positivity rate about 10% or any state with average case rates above 20 per 100,000.
- Government offices to return to mandatory teleworking except for essential direct public-facing services and other essential personnel. All businesses are encouraged to take steps to expand telework.
In addition, the Governor announced a new hospital surge capacity order, and new guidance for nursing homes and assisted living facilities.
