The Garrett County Health Department received 19 additional positive COVID-19 results since the last report on Monday, November 30th. In addition, notices of death due to COVID-19 complications was received for three males in their 70s or 80s. The current county total positives is 797 and the total deaths is 8.

β€œWe at the Garrett County Health Department extend our condolences to the families and friends of all the individuals who have passed away from complications of COVID-19,” said Garrett County Health Officer Bob Stephens. β€œSenior citizens have been particularly hard hit during this pandemic.”

The current comparison of Garrett County to state numbers is as follows:

β€’ 7-day positivity rate among Garrett County residents is 14.9% (Maryland rate is 7.5%)

β€’ 7-day case rate per 100,000 among Garrett County residents is 119.6 (Maryland rate is 37.0)

The breakdown of new cases by age ranges:

β€’ 36.8% (7 case) ages 0-20

β€’ 21.1% (4 cases) ages 21-40

β€’ 10.5% (2 cases) ages 41-60

β€’ 21.1% (4 cases) ages 61-80

β€’ 10.5% (2 cases) ages 81-100+

Garrett County Health Department has scheduled free COVID-19 testing on Tuesdays (9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.) and Thursdays (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.), at the MEDCO Building in the McHenry Business Park, located off Bumble Bee Road between Hart for Animals and the Garrett County Airport. There is no out-of-pocket cost to get a test at this site, and appointments and doctors’ orders are not required. All persons waiting to be tested must wear a face covering that fully covers their mouth and nose. When entering the site, follow event signs and watch for traffic personal for directions.
