By Diane Lee, Public Information Officer, Garrett County Health Department
The Garrett County Health Department recently partnered with local Community Planning Groups in four communities to distribute free masks at the their COVID-19 compliant events.
Mask were given away by the:
- Crellin Outreach Partnership
- Friendsville Community Watch
- Accident Planning Group
- Kitzmiller Empowerment Group
Masks were in packets containing 5 each and were distributed to familiesparticipating in the community events.
The mask distribution was a part of the Maryland Department of Health’s (MDH) #MasksOnMaryland campaign to encourage all Marylanders to wear face coverings in public places to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Throughout the state, local health departments and partners are distributing free masks at COVID-19 testing sites and other community centers in the coming weeks.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that people wear face coverings in public and follow other preventive measures, such as social distancing, frequent hand washing, and cleaning high-touch areas to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
