- Data represent COVID-19 cases diagnosed between July 1- Sept 15, 2021 among Garrett County residents.
- During the most recently completed week, youth under the age of 18 make up 21.5% of all cases, and this percentage has been climbing.
- Adults 18-64 continue to make up the majority of new cases.
- Additional Notes: 9/22/2021 @ 3:38PM
- Garrett County is experiencing a surge in cases primarily because too many people over the age of 12 have been declining vaccination. Instead of gaining immunity through a safe vaccine, the unvaccinated community is gaining immunity through infection itself. Some vaccinated people are also acquiring infection. This will be displayed in future releases.
- Individuals under the age of 12 cannot be protected from infection unless their family members and community are vaccinated. Because this is not the case, we are seeing this younger age group acquire infection also.
