The attached article is from the American Academy of Pediatrics website. A child in California has died of measles-related complications. The child had acquired measles as a young infant from an unvaccinated community member.
Infants younger than 6 months of age cannot receive the measles vaccine. Getting vaccinated protects the vaccinated person and also people around the vaccinated person who are too young to be immunized, or for some other reason are not immunized.
Measles causes serious illness, and for those who recover from the measles, it can still cause harm years later.
