Go! Garrett County

The Maryland Department of Health is seeking projects, concepts, and approaches that can help transform rural health. These ideas will be used to craft the state’s proposal to improve rural health in Maryland. It is important that the Department hears directly from residents who live and work in rural Maryland.

The H.R.1 (One Big Beautiful Bill Act) has allocated funds for rural communities across the United States. This is a competitive award process, and the Maryland Department of Health (MDH) is currently requesting all rural counties to conduct listening sessions to provide input for their grant application process. These sessions should involve diverse groups, including elected officials, FQHCs, academic partners, and community-based organizations, among others.

It is crucial that these sessions are completed in September to meet the application deadline. MDH and the Garrett County Health Department (GCHD) invite you to contribute to the transformation of rural health in our state. We are seeking innovative projects, concepts, and approaches.

Please engage with us in any of the following ways:

  1. Public Meetings: Attend one of two public listening sessions held during regularly scheduled and announced county meetings at the Garrett County Health Department in Oakland (1025 Memorial Drive, Oakland, MD 21550):
  2. Public Survey: Community stakeholders are invited to submit responses if they are unable to attend in-person or virtual listening sessions, and/or as directed by staff during these activities.
  3. Direct Submission: Directly submit a project proposal to the Maryland Department of Health: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc9k7rNLIr0ltfy8rYZZlTtlB0wCs_cq6bqzDDthtMUGnNd8Q/viewform
