An Extreme Cold Warning will go into effect at 4am Monday morning until 7am Thursday.
An extended period of temperatures up to 30 degrees below normal. Dangerously cold wind chills as low as 35 degrees below zero.
The dangerously cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes. An extended period of well below freezing temperatures could cause pipes to rupture.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must go outside.
To prevent water pipes from freezing, wrap or drain or allow them to drip slowly.
* Should you experience a power outage and/or lack of ability to heat your residence, warming stations and shelters will be available for emergency situations. *
The Emergency Operations Center should be contacted at 301-334-7280 for any sheltering or warming stations needs at the following locations:
