Breast and Cervical Cancer Program Letter to the Editor
Did you know that most women diagnosed with breast cancer have no family history of the disease? Did you know the top two risk factors for breast cancer are being a woman and getting older? That means you or someone you love is, or will be, at risk of developing breast cancer!
Letβs move beyond awareness this Breast Cancer Awareness Month and take action! Early detection is critical and the best tool currently available for early detection is the screening mammogram.
In our community, we are fortunate to have the Garrett County Breast and Cervical Cancer Program. This program works in each Maryland jurisdiction to provide education, outreach, and breast and cervical cancer screenings and diagnostic services at no cost to eligible women. This program helps protect our mothers, wives, sisters, daughters, friends, neighbors and coworkers in the prime of their lives. The program can help both women with and without health insurance.
If you or someone you know needs help getting a mammogram, take action now! Call 301-334-7770 or 301-895-3111.
