On Friday, the CDC authorized the Moderna and Pfizer COVID-19 boosters for all adults after completion of primary vaccination with any FDA-authorized or approved COVID-19 vaccine. This opens up availability for COVID-19 booster vaccines to all individuals 18 years of age and older who received their initial series of Moderna or Pfizer COVID vaccine at least six months ago or received the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine at least two months ago.
βAs the holiday season approaches, with more travel and more gatherings, we are encouraging all Marylanders to get a booster shot and maintain their immunity,β said Maryland Governor Larry Hogan.
Booster doses are available locally at pharmacies and some primary care providers. The Garrett County Health Department (GCHD) is making the booster available to this expanded age group at all vaccination clinics scheduled at the health department offices in Oakland and Grantsville. Registration links for November and December clinics are available at garretthealth.org.
Clinics are scheduled at the GCHD Oakland office on Tuesday November 23 and 30, and each Tuesday in December. Clinics are scheduled at the GCHD Grantsville office on Fridays, including December 3, 10, and 17. All clinics are from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Clinics for January 2022 will be posted soon.
