The Maryland Office of the State Fire Marshal reminds us that since 2013, Maryland law requires all battery-only smoke alarms sold in the state be equipped with 10-year lithium batteries. Any home equipped with 120-volt electric smoke alarms should have them replaced every 10 years with newer models that include a battery backup.
To protect yourself and your child, when you change the time in November, also check your smoke alarms and replace them if needed!
