Rock Painting Event Strengthens Community Ties and Provides Health Education

Another successful event for the Mtn Lake Partners Community Planning Group facilitated by the Garrett County Health Department (GCHD) is in the books! On May 10th, community members engaged in a free, fun, and creative rock painting event at the Mountain Lake Park splash pad. 

“With this, beginning something new that we tried this year, the town really supported us in letting us use their building and rocks!” said Community Planning Group member Gerry Duket. 

“We were able to let the community paint rocks and write messages on them so other community members could see how beautiful they are,” said Katie Lucas, GCHD Outreach Worker. 

The group plans to bring more of these rock painting events to the community, including at their upcoming Bounce into Summer event on June 8th from 12 to 4 p.m. at the Splash Pad in Mountain Lake Park.

There will be free meals (first come, first served), bounce houses, rock painting, music, a splash pad, and games!

We want to thank the Town of Mountain Lake Park and community members for making our events and group such a success.
