By Diane Lee, Public Information Officer, Garrett County Health Department
Volunteers for the Garrett County Health Department completed a total of 2,050 hours of service during 2022. A total of 115 volunteers assisted the Health Department with events, programs, advisory groups, and other duties in calendar year 2022. βWe depend on our volunteers to help us expand our reach into the communities,β said Health Officer Bob Stephens. βWe appreciate their dedication to our mission of making Garrett County a healthier place to live, work, and play!β Eligible volunteers who completed a minimum number of hours were invited to participate in a celebration in March. Receiving special recognition for completing more than 100 hours each, were Ryan Amburgey who volunteered 210 hours at the Partners After School @ Oakland program and the Mt. Lake Partners group, and Dr. Charles Lefebure, who completed 120 volunteer hours participating in COVID-19 clinics. A third volunteer, Alexandra Schofield, completed 119 volunteer hours serving on the Drug-Free Communities Coalition and assisting at the Partners After School programs, but was unavailable to attend the dinner. Pictured left to right during the Volunteer Dinner are Amburgey, Stephens, and Dr. Lefebure.
