By Diane Lee, Public Information Officer, Garrett County Health Department
The Garrett County Health Department will release an announcement through the media and our social media outlets when updated COVID-19 boosters that provide additional protection from the Omicron variant are available. We are waiting for a shipment to arrive, and for approval from the Maryland Department of Health to administer these boosters. On September 1st, CDC Director Rochelle P. Walensky, M.D., M.P.H., endorsed the CDC Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices’ (ACIP) recommendations for use of updated COVID-19 boosters from Pfizer-BioNTech for people ages 12 years and older and from Moderna for people ages 18 years and older. Watch for an announcement on garretthealth.org and the Garrett County Health Department Facebook page.
