Tai Ji Quan Demonstration Planned for GC Health Fair
Tai Ji Quan: Moving for Better Balance (TJQMBB) will be one of the demonstrations at the 2017 Garrett County Health Fair and Family Fun Festival on April 8th. Although its origin can be traced to the contemporary simplified 24-form Tai Chi routine, TJQMBB represents a significant paradigm shift in its application. The focus shifts from its historical use as a martial art and recreational activity to propagating health by addressing common, but potentially debilitating, functional impairments and deficits. Pictured above are participants of a Tai Ji Quan class currently being offered at the Mary Browning Senior Center Mondays and Fridays at 11 a.m. Classes are also available at the Grantsville Senior Centers Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30 a.m.; the Friendsville Senior Center on Wednesdays at 10 a.m.; and the Flowery Vale Fitness Center at varying times.Β The Garrett County Health Fair and Family Fun Festival will be held on Saturday, April 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the CARC (Community Aquatic & Recreation Complex) at Garrett College in McHenry.
