PROGRAM ADMINISTRATOR II – ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF HEALTH EDUCATION & OUTREACH
THIS RECRUITMENT IS LIMITED TO CURRENT EMPLOYEES OF THE MDH GARRETT COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT ONLY.
The main purpose of this full-time position will be to assist with directing the Health Education and Outreach division of the local health department including alcohol and other drug prevention services, chronic disease prevention,tobacco prevention and control, harm reduction services, and community outreach.

This position will also assist in the implementation, promotion and evaluation of health education programs designed to further public awareness and understanding of the factors influencing health status and community health education services.

In addition, this position will assist in the oversight of grants (10-15 annually), budgets (approximately $1.5 million annually), and personnel (15-18 employees) to meet the mission of the Health Education unit of the local health department.

AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM ASSISTANT

COMMUNITY HEALTH OUTREACH WORKER I
The main purpose of this full-time contractual position is to provide intensive home visiting services to pregnant women and children up to five years of age under the Healthy Families America home visiting program(s) to improve birth outcomes, strengthen families, cultivate nurturing parent child relationships, promote child health and developmental outcomes, promote family stability, and build foundations for strong family functioning. The position will promote family and child health through education and referral. The position will collaborate with other health professionals and community agencies to support family and children’s optimal health, nutrition, safety, and development.

Early Care Programs/Healthy Families Garrett County direct service staff hold a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; have experience in working with or providing services to children and families; exhibit an ability to establish trusting relationships; show acceptance of individual differences; have experience and humility to work with the culturally diverse families; have knowledge of infant and child development; are willing to engage in building reflective capacity ( e.g., capacity for introspection, communicating awareness of self in relation to others, recognizing value of supervision, etc.). Infant mental health endorsement is preferred, but not required.

The Community Health Outreach Worker/Home Visitor takes into account each family’s unique strengths and needs. The home visitor will be provided with weekly reflective supervision sessions from the Early Care Programs Supervisor to promote continued growth with the program.
