Local Support Shown for 2018 Garrett County Health Fair

Numerous local agencies and organizations have signed on to sponsor the 2018 Garrett County Health Fair scheduled for Saturday, April 14, Garrett College CARC (Community Aquatic & Recreation Complex) in McHenry from 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. The fair is being held jointly with the Family Fun Festival, which is specifically geared for young children from birth-8 years of age.

Gold Sponsors include: Garrett County Health Department (GCHD), Garrett Regional Medical Center, Maryland Physicians Care, and Mountain Laurel Medical Center. Basic Sponsors include: Brookside Health and Wellness, Dove Center, GCHD Behavioral Health, Jazzercise, Mountain Postal, and Priority Partners. In-Kind Sponsors include: Garrett College CARC, and Medical Rehabilitation Systems.

The Garrett County Health Fair & Family Fun Festival is a free community event designed to increase health awareness and to promote the health oriented resources for all ages which are available throughout the local community. The event will include informational booths, a variety of free health screenings, door prizes, and many other giveaways.

This year’s health fair will include four exercise related demos scheduled throughout the day. Demonstrations include: Tai Ji Quan, Rodney Durst; Jazzercise, Lisa Nichols; REFIT, Christi Reckart and Shannon Baker; and Strength Training, CARC Group Fitness Staff.

The event is organized by the Garrett County STEPS Committee, a group composed of private citizens, local businesses and public agencies, all with the desire to improve the overall wellness in the community. Like Garrett County Health Fair on Facebook for up-to-date information.
