Just Like You! Promotes Positive Role Modeling

Dec 17, 2018 | Press Releases

The Garrett County Health Department’s Just Like You! Program reminds everyone that children are always watching what you do, ready to imitate the good…and the bad. Be a positive role model for all those little eyes.

This month’s message is a reminder that positive role modeling is woven into everything adults do while kids are watching. Model healthy eating and exercise. Safely secure children in their car seats, make sure everyone, including adults, are using their seatbelts correctly. Washing hands often is always important, especially during flu season. Christmas time is a perfect time to read to, and with, your child, or play in the snow with them. And what better time to instill the giving spirit by including your children when helping someone in need.

Pictured above are Karen and Dustin George, and their sons, Brantley and Ryker, sharing family time around a book. Listen for Brantley’s cute little voice in our radio ad on WKHJ, and view this month’s video clip at copycatfun.com where you will also find resources on the importance of adults being positive role models for children (Developmental Asset #14-ADULT ROLE MODELS).
