The Garrett County WIC Program is aware of false information circulating regarding WIC benefits. No participants benefits are scheduled to be shut down. WIC staff is working diligently to disperse benefits to all eligible people for up to three months without clients needing to come into the office. Please check your WIC app for information. WIC staff is here to make sure people have access to food to be able to feed their families.
As announced earlier, for all individuals who have appointments from now until the end of April, WIC will be extending certification periods for at least 30 days. Food benefits will be issued for a minimum of one month up to as long as 3 months. Please continue to contact the WIC office at 301-334-7710. The Garrett County Health Department will be closed to the public until further notice as a preventative measure in order to maintain continuity of vital operations and to reduce the risk of exposure to COVID-19.
