The Garrett County Local Behavioral Health Authority and Local Management Board invite parents, guardians, and other community members to attend a special program featuring Stephen Hill, a renowned national speaker on substance use prevention and mental health. Hill is the founder of Speak Sobriety, a person in recovery, bestselling author, recovery coach, and an attorney.
Attendees will hear his cautionary tale and inspiring story has left a lasting positive impact on other communities. His story was the main feature in Surviving the Hill, a recently released documentary on the drug epidemic focusing on prevention and recovery.
The event is scheduled for Wednesday, October 25, from 7 – 8:30 pm at the Performing Arts Center at Garrett College. Hill is also scheduled to speak at Garrett County middle and high schools from October 23 through 26.
The appearances in Garrett County come after years of presentations in front of thousands of people and for more than 500 schools and coalitions across the country.
As quoted on Hill’s website:
“This is an amazing opportunity for parents to have a meaningful conversation with their children about the messages and lessons from Stephen’s presentation. Through knowledge gained from his own personal and professional experience, Stephen shows parents how to build resilient kids to make healthy choices and overcome adversity.” This event is free and open to the public. The doors open at 6:30 pm, with the presentation starting at 7 pm. For more information contact Gillian Shreve at [email protected] or 301-334-7440.
