The Garrett County Health Department in cooperation with Garrett County Emergency Management warns that extreme cold weather will continue over the next several days.
There is always a concern for seniors, children, pets, homeless persons, and people working outdoors.
Anyone engaging in outdoor activities should carefully monitor for frostbite and hypothermia.
Check on elderly neighbors and others who live alone.
All pets/animals should have warm shelter or be brought indoors.

Blizzard Warning
A blizzard warning has been issued for Garrett County by the NWS from 9PM Wednesday until 3PM Thursday.
4-8 inches of snow are expected in the warning area with up to 10 inches in some locations. Winds will be gusting to 55mph causing white out and blizzard conditions.
The heaviest snow and lowest visibility will occur early Thursday morning and will affect the Thursday morning commute. Blowing snow and white out conditions will continue through much of Thursday even after accumulating snow has stopped. Wind chills will drop to near or below zero by Thursday evening.
