Car Seat Scheduled for Garrett County
By Diane Lee, Public Information Officer, Garrett County Health Department
Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians will be available at the Garrett County Fairgrounds on May 16th to provide Car Seat Checks for interested persons. These checks will be held by appointment, with drive ups only being accepted if time permits.
Appointments will take 30 to 45 minutes per car seat, while technicians complete a check-list and assist parents or caregivers in learning how to install and use their car seat correctly. Seat checks work best if participants have the seat installed when they arrive. Also, if the child is not along for the appointment, have their height and weight available to assist in correct fit. Appointments are sped up when participants also have their car seat and vehicles owner’s manuals available.
“We are so excited to be able to provide this car seat check opportunity to families in Garrett County,” said Jennifer VanPelt, Car Seat Coordinator in the Early Care Program of the Garrett County Health Department. “It’s been quite a while since we were able to hold this kind of event. This is the best way to make sure you are using your child’s car seat correctly.”
