Please see the guidance below related to COVID-19 home tests:
- MDH previously purchased COVID-19 home tests for use in non-clinical settings that have recently expired but were on Shelf Life Extension through December 31, 2024. Consumers should check the extension dates on their tests and follow instructions and guidance provided by manufacturers and public health authorities.
- We recommend that consumers follow normal disposal processes found in the instructions pamphlet within the product for these tests following their expiration (i.e., normal trash unless otherwise directed in the instructions pamphlet).
- MDH is not planning to purchase any additional COVID-19 home tests at this time.
- We will not ship out any COVID home tests after their expiration.
- The federal website is still available as an avenue for consumers to order their own tests for direct mail delivery: https://covidtests.gov/
