Breastfeeding is full of benefits for mom and baby!
Breastfeeding provides the opportunity for mom to pass healthy antibodies to your baby that will give them a head start in fighting off viruses and infections. Breastfed babies have fewer colds, allergies, ear infections, and even a decreased risk for SIDS. Breastfeeding your baby has health benefits for you, too. Not only will you recover from labor more quickly, but mothers that breastfeed have lower rates of breast, cervical, ovarian, and uterine cancer. Early Care Programs at the Garrett County Health Department are here to support you and your breastfeeding journey. With COVID-19, you may have a lot of questions about breastfeeding while sick. Check out this flyer to see what the CDC has to say about safely breastfeeding your baby while infected with COVID-19.
