Nearly 150 persons recently attended a fishing rodeo at Accident Town Pond sponsored by the Accident Community Planning Group in conjunction with the Wild Turkey Federation.
“Families made a day of it, as they gathered around the pond and made memories,” said Machelle Bender, Outreach Worker at the Garrett County Health Department. “It was a wonderful day to spend time together, enjoy fishing, and learn about keeping youth safe from underage drinking.”
Attendees learned about the risk of underage drinking and prescription drug misuse among youth through messaging and handouts, and were reminded to store, monitor, and secure alcohol and medication properly in the home.
