Partners After School @ Accident hosts Power Up Summer Camp

Jul 30, 2018 | Press Releases

Partners After School @ Accident will offer a summer camp on weekdays, August 6 through 17, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Accident fire hall.

β€œPower Up Summer Camp will weave a theme of personal power and responsibility through two weeks of academic skills refreshers, arts projects, fitness fun, and fieldtrips,” said program assistant Sarah Humberson. Arts experiences will include stop-motion filmmaking, guest guitarist Paul DeKraai, birdhouse painting with Deep Creek Pottery, and an African rhythm game called Yan-Koloba.

The summer camp is free for participants and open to Accident Elementary School students and Accident residents who completed Second through Fifth grades in June. Garrett County Board of Education will provide Summer Food Service lunches daily. Pre-registration is required; contact Venessa Stacy at the Garrett County Health Department by calling 301-334-7730 for registration information. Spaces are limited and will be filled based on grant funding criteria.

Partners After School @ Accident is administered by the Garrett County Health Department, and is funded by the LMB, the Maryland State Department of Education, the 21st Century Community Learning Center program, GCC Technologies, LLC, United Way of Garrett County, the Maryland Department of Social Services, and supported by Accident Volunteer Fire Department.
