Garrett County Tick Surveillance
Tick surveillance efforts began in 2019 through the Department of Environmental Health. Collection efforts take place throughout the year at various public lands throughout the county. Ticks collected undergo species identification and pathogen testing with assistance from the CDC and Maryland Department of Health. This project aims to better inform residents and visitors of Garrett County of the risks ticks pose to the area.
