2018 Outstanding Partner In Health Awards Announced
Two Outstanding Partner in Health Awards were given out at the 2018 Garrett County Health Fair earlier this month. Crellin Elementary School received the award in the organization category, and Jennifer Sober won the award in the individual category.
These annual awards are designed to recognize and honor individuals, organizations or businesses making significant contributions to creating healthier places to live, work, and receive care in Garrett County. Award criteria include being outstanding catalysts who motivate and empower others through their actions and demonstrate excellence, dedication, commitment and innovation in service to clients and community.
Crellin Elementary School, and Principal Dana McCauley, received the Outstanding Partner in Health Award for an Organization. Crellin was nominated for the award for not only offering an outstanding โin schoolโ educational opportunity for the students, but taking the extra effort to enrich the whole child through healthy living farm to table exercises, outdoor environmental studies, and the opportunity for each child to work on the farm.
โThe impact of these programs on the lives of these children is palpable,โ read the nomination. โGreat care is taken with the farm and the grounds by each student. They are visibly proud of their facility and are eager to show you around the property, especially to meet the animals. The student body is aware of the importance of taking care of the environment and that, in turn, the bounty that is returned to them is a sustainable robust source for living a healthy life.โ
Jennifer Sober received the Outstanding Partner in Health Award for an Individual because of her motivation and fitness training of others.
โWhether she is training an experienced tri-athlete, leading fitness classes for all ages and skills, or assisting someone recovering from injury, Jen takes the same care and skillful approach,โ read the nomination. โJen believes what she teaches and that energy pushes and motivates her clients. She continuously improves the health of many Garrett County residents through her work and drive.โ
The 2018 Garrett County Outstanding Partner in Health Awards were sponsored by the Garrett County Steps to Better Health Committee. The awards were given out at the Garrett County Health Fair and Family Fun Festival held on Saturday, April 14, at the CARC (Community Aquatic & Recreation Complex) at Garrett College in McHenry.
