2017 Garrett County Health Fair Saturday, April 8th
The Garrett County Health Fair and Family Fun Festival will take place on Saturday, April 8, at the Garrett College CARC (Community Aquatic & Recreation Complex) from 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. This free community event is designed to increase health awareness and promote the health oriented resources for all ages which are available throughout the local community.
The event will include guest speakers, exercise demos, informational booths, a variety of free health screenings, door prizes, and many other giveaways. Guest speaker topics will include orthopedic surgery, colonoscopies, telepsychiatry, and diabetes awareness and management. Demonstrations will include Jazzercise, Tai Ji Quan: Moving for Better Balance, hooping, and commercial break workout.
Family members of the late Dave βFlakeyβ Wilt will be introduced as Health Ambassadors for this yearβs Health Fair. Peggy Brown, Ellen Spiker, and Melanie Carver will honor his spirit of serving others and stress the importance of taking care of your own health. Β Wilt, who died in December, lived with diabetes for 18 years.

The Health Fair is organizes by the Garrett County STEPS Committee, which is composed of private citizens, local businesses, and public agencies with the desire to improve the overall wellness in the community. The fair is free to all participants and is supported by the generous sponsors, including Garrett Regional Medical Center, Garrett County Health Department, Maryland Physicians Care, and CARC.
