Go! Garrett County

By Garrett County Joint Information Center Team

Getting a COVID-19 vaccination has never been easier. A GoVAX Mobile Vaccination Unit (MVU) will be located at the Garrett County Fairgrounds throughout the Memorial Day weekend and walk-up clinics are scheduled at the Garrett County Health Department on Thursday through Saturday.

This combination of free walk-up clinics offers convenient locations to drop in for a vaccination on the go.

The MVU will be open at the fairgrounds from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily from Friday, May 28th through Wednesday, June 2nd. Participants can choose between the Moderna and the Johnson and Johnson vaccine. No appointment is necessary.

The Garrett County Health Department has scheduled walk-up clinics as follows:

• Thursday, May 27th 9 a.m. -12 p.m. – Moderna vaccine at the MEDCO Building (appointments may be scheduled on GarrettHealth.org)
• Thursday, May 27th 12:30-3 p.m. – Johnson and Johnson vaccine from at the MEDCO Building (appointments may be scheduled on GarrettHealth.org)
• Thursday, May 27th 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. – 18+ with a choice of Moderna or Johnson and Johnson vaccine at GCHD, Oakland
• Friday, May 28th 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. – 18+ with a choice of Moderna or Johnson and Johnson vaccine at GCHD, Oakland
• Saturday, May 29th 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. – for 12+ with a choice of Moderna, Johnson and Johnson, or Pfizer vaccine at GCHD, Oakland

“We are glad to be able to offer all these clinics to both locals and vacationers,” said Garrett County Health Officer Bob Stephens. “Getting vaccinated is still the best way to protect yourself and those you love.”

The mobile unit is funded and operated by FEMA and is staffed by trained vaccinators and clinical staff from county, state and federal agencies.
