October is Declared Breast Cancer Awareness Month in Garrett County

The Garrett County Commissioners signed a proclamation on Tuesday declaring October 2017 as Breast Cancer Awareness Month in Garrett County. The proclamation read, in part, “Garrett County is pleased to join with the Maryland Department of Health to encourage women to learn about their risk for breast cancer, talk to their health care providers about recommended breast cancer screenings, and to be screened with clinical breast exams and mammograms, as appropriate.” Seated left to right are Commissioners Paul Edward, Jim Hinebaugh, and Larry Tichnell. Standing in second row are Garrett County Health Officer Bob Stephens, Judy Sines, Jennifer Lee-Steckman, and Caroline Evans. We will bill Medicare Part B and private insurance companies. Be sure to bring your Medicare card and/or insurance card so we can bill your insurance carrier. There will be NO out-of-pocket costs for influenza vaccine.

Bloomington Fire Hall October 30, 2017 (Monday) 3 p.m. – 6 p.m.

Pneumonia vaccines will be available at these clinics for only those with Medicare Part B. Other persons who want pneumonia vaccine should call 301 334-7770 or 301 895-5355 to schedule an appointment at the health department.
